Newcastle Sustainable Salon

We Are As Committed To Sustainability As We Are To You

If you follow our socials, you may have heard us mention our partnership with the Sustainable Salons social enterprise. With up to 95% of plastics, salon metals (think foils!), hair, ponytails and chemicals collected from participating salons and either recycled or repurposed, this is an initiative
we knew we had to be a part of.
We couldn’t be prouder to be playing a part to curb the impact the hairdressing industry has on the environment.

Let’s dive into some feel-good stats!

  • A staggering 251,957kg metals have been diverted from landfill – and made into new aluminium packaging
  •  37,430kg of hair has been collected from the salon floor that can soak up 124,766L of oil in a land or ocean spill
  • 10 research projects are underway with universities and organisations to find innovative repurposing solutions for salon materials
  • 61 local jobs have been created across Australia and New Zealand
  • 153090+ meals have been supplied - all proceeds generated from recycling salon materials go to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest to help feed the hungry ($1 = 2 meals)

And so many more! If you’d like to read more about this wonderful project, you can check them out here
We hope you’ll leave our salon not only looking and feeling amazing, but you’ll know that you are also playing a part in this wonderful initiative – which will no doubt leave you feeling as warm and fuzzy as we do!

Following with some further exciting salon news, we are thrilled (and super proud!) to be a Newcastle Salon stockist for the award-winning Philip Kingsley brand of haircare.
To compliment this exciting new range in the salon, we will also be undertaking the exclusive Philip Kingsley Trichology Education and Training.
With Philip Kingsley being the world-leading expert in Trichology (the science of hair and scalp), we couldn’t be in better hands to learn from this absolute hair guru.

We’ve already had some amazing feedback from clients, with a standout being the award-winning cult item- the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. So far in the salon, we have seen it super popular with all hair types and is delivering on dramatically improving hair texture, strength and resistance to breakage.
A client recently purchased this and was over the moon with the initial results after her heavily heat treated hair was in need of a little love. With regular ongoing use of this beautiful treatment, we are excited to see how her hair continues to bounce and lap up the moisture!
We’ve also been hearing wonderful things from our clients with curls, as the treatment is so deeply conditioning that it really nourishes curls from root to tip without weighing them down.
We look forward to sharing our newly learnt Philip Kingsley knowledge about all things hair and scalp with you in the salon and would love to hear from you if you’ve also tried this cult item or would like to.
If you’re keen to checkout the award winning Philip Kingsley haircare items, you can find them in the salon and also online here

Another favourite that we can’t help but mention again is the beautiful Teknia range. Clients are particularly loving the Frizz Control range and have mentioned how well it tames frizz and smooths both straight and curly hair effortlessly from the first wash and condition.

  • Vegan Formula
  • Sulfate Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Mineral Oil Free
  • Colorants Free

As for us? We are adoring the Teknia range too and the smell is absolutely beautiful!
We currently have it in stock in the salon and also online here
Ready to book in? We’d love to see you!
Don’t forget- if you’re after a solid shiny colour, toner, treatment, or blowdry, our emerging stylist Katelin is currently offering this services with an impressive 40% off. We know you’ll love Katelin’s head massages as much as we do! You can book your next appointment here

As always, we can’t wait to make you a cup of tea and to catch up on all that’s been happening in your world.
With many warm wishes from all the team at Unravel Studio X
